Particle Tracking With Space Charge Effects Using Graphics Processing Unit

Particle tracking simulations with space charge effects are very important for high-intensity proton rings. Since they include not only Hamilton mechanics of a single particle but constructing densities and solving Poisson equations to obtain the electromagnetic field due charge, extremely time-consuming. We have newly developed simulation code that can be used in Graphics Processing Units (GPU). GPUs strong capacities parallel processing so calculation single-particle done fast by complete parallelization. Our new also includes effect. It must construct densities, which cannot completely parallelized. For density construction, we use shared memory accessed from each thread. The usage is another advantage GPU computing. As result our development, increase speed including effect approximately 10 times faster than case conventional CPU.
